The important transvaginal ultrasound examination is something that would help you in determining any problems associated with your reproductive organs. The transvaginal ultrasound is a specific type of pelvic examination that is used to look at the reproductive organs of a woman, like the ovaries, cervix and the uterus. The simple meaning of the phrase transvaginal ultrasound means that the ultrasound is carried out by putting the instruments through the vagina. In order to understand the important and methodology of the transvaginal ultrasound, let’s take a look at the complete transvaginal ultrasound procedure and the main instruments that are used for conducting this examination.

Transvaginal Ultrasound Procedure

Before you move for the transvaginal ultrasound procedure, there are some steps that you would have to take. These preparatory steps would ensure that you are ready for the transvaginal ultrasound, and it requires you to have an empty or partially filled bladder. Generally, a transvaginal ultrasound would require you to undress from the waist down, so that the probe for ultrasound can be inserted into your vagina. Once you are ready, you would be asked to lie down onto a table with your knees bent and feet in holders. The probe that would be used for transvaginal ultrasound would be put inside your vagina. You need not worry as this transvaginal ultrasound probe is covered with a condom and a gel, to ensure that the required lubrication is there. Only a small part of the probe is inserted into the body so that there is no discomfort to the patient who is going through the transvaginal ultrasound. The probe is used to fire sound waves that are reflected off the internal organs and images are received onto a computer for a complete analysis of the internal organs.

Hi ,
I am advised to go through a TVS ,please let me know if it is painful.

It wasn’t painful at all. The worst part was having to hold your pee while they did the test. It’s not much worse than a pap smear, except for having a full bladder.

Undeniаblу believe that which you stаted.
